In 2009, Research Canada: An Alliance for Health Discovery established a Health Research Caucus (HRC), drawing parliamentarians from all political parties to participate in a forum to discuss the critical importance of health research to the health and wealth of Canadians, and consider the benefits of the health research industry’s skilled and knowledgeable work force. Health Research Caucus events are convened under the chairmanship of Senator Kelvin K. Ogilvie and the vice-chairmanship of Ms. Megan Leslie, Member of Parliament for Halifax and Dr. Kirsty Duncan, Member of Parliament for Etobioke-North. This successful initiative continues with HRC Parliamentary Events held throughout the year. Our next event will be a Reception & Kiosk Session for parliamentarians, to be held May 14, 2012, that will focus on Brain Research. |
